  • Stainless steel - 0.15 to 60 mm wire diameter
  • Material customize as per client’s need

Compression springs are common type of springs. The compression springs are open-coil helical spring constructed along the axis. They are made to oppose compression. They are winded over a rod or fitted inside the hole. When load is apply to the springs, it compressed and pushes back to get original condition. The springs offer resistance to linear compressing forces.

Configurations: The straight springs are the most common compression springs. The diameter of the spring remains same for the whole length. The straight coil configuration is the standard coil type for stock compression springs. The concave, conical and convex type springs are of compression type of springs.

  • Solid height should be minimized
  • High-duty springs are specified
  • A tendency towards bulking should be reduced
  • Close tolerances on load or rate are needed
  • Accurate seating and uniform bearing pressure required

Key Parameters:

Dimensions: outer diameter, inner diameter, wire diameter, free length, and solid height. In the unloaded position, the overall length of a spring is the free length.

When sufficient load provide to the compression spring, it bring all coils contact with adjacent coils, the length of a compression spring is called the Solid height.

Spring Rate or stiffness

The change in load per unit deflection in pounds per inch (lb. /in.) or Newton’s per millimeter (n/mm) is called spring rate..

Unit of Measures

Stress: the dimensions, along with the load and deflection requirements, determine the stresses in the spring. When the load is apply to the compression spring, the coiled wire is stressed in torsion. at the surface of the wire, the stress is highest. As the spring is deflected, the load varies, causing a range of operating stress. The life of the spring decided by the stress and stress range. To obtain the comparable life, the maximum stress must be lower and stress range, higher. When the stress range is low, the high stress range may be used, if the spring is subjected to static loads only. To avoid permanent damage and solid compression of the springs during installation must be low enough, and the stress at solid height must be high enough to permit presetting.

Applications: The compression springs used in a wide variety of applications. The uses of compression springs are ranging from automotive engineers and large stamping presses to major appliances and lawn mowers to medical devices. It is also used in electronics and sensitive devices, cell phones.
